I have a bachelor’s degree in Literature with minors in sociology and anthropology. I have been tutoring college students in English and writing for 10 yrs. including college classroom experience. I am also certified in reading and writing for ESL students (TESOL). My tutoring philosophy is simple: I believe that tutoring should help and always encourage students to become independent and confident learners.
“Instruction does much, but encouragement everything." J.W. Von Goethe

I have been a professional English tutor at Goodwin since 2011, and I have been learning from students as I journey along with them, finding strengths and remedying weak spots. I have taught high school English, as well as adult GED students, but my mainstay has been working as an adjunct Composition professor at Manchester Community College since 1999.

I am a proud native Nutmegger and have worked at Goodwin University for two years as a Professional English Tutor and, more recently, as an English Adjunct. I am also a part time adjunct at Asnuntuck Community College as well. I am inspired by teaching and words and love to help others flourish as writers. Borrowing from one of my favorites, Virginia Woolf, “Nothing has really happened until it has been recorded” sums it up nicely.

I have worked with writers for my entire professional career. Before becoming a writing teacher and coach, I was an editor at a national magazine for almost a decade, assisting budding writers with their craft. For the past thirteen years, I have worked at both the high-school and university levels, helping students in all disciplines, from the humanities to the sciences to business, turn their ideas into words that work. I believe that writing isn’t a talent but a process. I love the process, every step of it, and am here to help you through it.
