The Research Process

A guide to start you on your research journey!

Brainstorming Tips

When your assignment gives you a broad starting point:

  • Take 10-15 minutes to jot down any words/concepts/ideas that relate to the assigned topic
  • What aspects of the subject are the most interesting to you?
  • Does the subject relate to your own life in any way?
  • What are you most curious about?
  • What do you already know about this topic?

When you can choose anything:

  • Is there something you have always wanted to learn about?
  • What are your interests?
  • What are issues in your prospective career field?
  • Is there an issue that is close to your heart?
  • What is happening in the world right now? In your community?
