For example, a Google search may be perfect for you to search for restaurant reviews or when you need to check the local weather. However, you will want to understand how to access the Hoffman Family Library databases to search for academic and peer-reviewed materials when working toward completing papers and research projects. User experience testing in the open textbook adaptation workflow: A case study As library publishers and open education programs grow, it is imperative that we integrate practices in our workflows that prioritize and include end users. Although there is information available on best practices for user testing and accessibility compliance, more can be done to give insight into the library publishing context. This study examines the user and accessibility testing workflow during the modification of an existing open textbook using Pressbooks at Texas Tech University.

A series of digital research discoveries In this essay, I reflect on my use of online research databases throughout my career. Aware of the limits of research due to COVID-19, I share my main resources, including the William Blake Archive, A Celebration of Women Writers, and Readex. In addition to their function, I discuss the ethics of production and access to these databases. Who is creating them? Who can access and read them? How often are they updated? Are they teachable? I end by sharing advice on using these databases. This includes how to use databases as teaching resources for less-expensive, sometimes free, curriculum materials.
