A standard is a document by a health care agency or organization to establish acceptable acceptable patient care, based on statutes, court decisions, policies, or professional guidelines. Standards will not be specific an individual minority, religion or culture. The purpose is to have general guidelines and are written so that all patients receive the same level of care, regardless of ethnicity, beliefs, culture or ability to pay.
