Beacons

Welcome to Beacons, Goodwin's literary magazine.

If your question is not addressed here, please contact us via email.

Is there a cost to submit?

No! We will never ask you for money.

If my piece is accepted to Beacons, can I have it published somewhere else in the future?

Yes! We do not retain exclusive rights to your work. However, we request that you mention Beacons if your piece is accepted elsewhere. example:
My Story
(originally published in Beacons)
by Jane Doe

My work was previously published elsewhere, but I want to submit it to Beacons, too! Can I?

That depends on the guidelines laid out by the entity that originally published your work. Some magazines/journals/books retain exclusive rights to any work accepted while others do not. Review any contract you signed upon publication.

I’m afraid of getting rejected. What if my work isn’t accepted?

Rejection is difficult, but it is part of the creative journey. If we do not accept your work, that doesn’t mean it is bad or boring. Even successful writers and artists have faced numerous rejections. We will explain our decision, provide suggestions, and encourage you to resubmit for future issues.

Is there a theme you’re looking for?

Not really. We want quality work that comes from the heart, regardless of theme or tone.
